Apparently I'm Alternative |
To put my little fingerprint on the Internet... Here's a music blog. Nothing fancy - simply bands and songs I love, like and perhaps even hate with a vengeance! |
The Temper Trap - Soldier On
Everyone probably knows about The Temper Trap by now from their songs “Sweet Disposition” and “Science of Fear” but it this little song that I love most. A rather soft one which I think is beautiful. It is that lovely guitar that pulls me in.
Yellow Streetlight - A Breath Held
This guy is a Triple J Unearthed musician. I heard this song played on the radio and I have to say I love it! It’s a tad dark and moody but I really enjoy it.
Take a gander at his myspace while you’re at it and listen to a few of his songs at Triple J unearthed.

Kings Of Convenience - Gold In The Air Of Summer
The first Kings of Convenience song I heard was “I’d Rather Dance With You”, a cute little ditty. I once read that these two could be described as a Norwegian Simon and Garfunkel and in some ways, I have to agree. I listened to their songs when studying for my exams last year and they just relaxed me completely.
I absolutely recommend Kings of Convenience and this one song especially. Beautiful and calming :)
Angus and Julia Stone - Silver Coin
I love many of Angus and Julia Stones’ songs and this is on that list. I love the calming effect of their music… it’s just so relaxing.
Check out “Mango Tree” and “Paper Aeroplane” to name two. Beautiful :)
Karnivool - Set Fire To The Hive
I’ve only recently heard about these guys (Thanks to Triple J’s Hottest 100) and really enjoy this song of theirs. I also recommend “All I Know”… awesome :D
The Middle East - The Darkest Side
It’s just a lovely song - Pure and simple.
Civil Twilight - Letters From The Sky
I find Steven McKellars voice so calming. This is brilliant if you just want to chillax and veg out to.
Skillet - Hero
I decided to wash the car today and whilst doing so had some drunk-o come up and take some of my cleaning instruments and dirty up my fine work!!! And to top it off, he wouldn’t leave (Why oh why do I attract the clingy, creepy drunks?). Anywho, during this I thought of this Skillet song for some reason which made me giggle haha.
Beastie Boys - Sabotage
I know it’s been on peoples music lists for years and years and years but I’m drawing Zoe Saldana from Star Trek (Yes I draw people :P) and I remembered this song at the start of the film!
I highly recommend this song when flooring it whilst driving on a freeway!
The Maccabees - No Kind Words
This is the first Maccabees song I heard and I couldn’t help but love Orlando Weeks voice. This song gets me everytime. I suggest you also listen to “Can You Give It” - another amazing song by The Maccabees.
